Yep, using genericsetup sure sounds handy. If that doesn't work, you can use the migrationscript in Quills/Extensions as a basis. coreblog2quills or so. Also I've got a squishdot-to-quills migration script in there (or somewhere on vanrees.org/weblog, I'm a a train now so I can't check).
