hi derek, tim, et. al, i spent some time today looking at vice and i'm intrigued and agree with tim (and probably derek, too ;-) that vice is the way to move forward. however, i wasn't able to get it to work with the quills bundle and also not on the vice bundle itself, either. i tried creating a feed for the default news folder. i enabled syndication itself at `/syndication-controlpanel` and added an atom feed (name = 'foo') and an rss2.0 feed (name = 'bar') at `/news/ configurefeeds`. by doing so i get an error message, but that seems to be just a cosmetic glitch, as there is no error output in the log and the error message reads "Error Updated on 2007-09-19 22:29:20.299021" after doing so, there are no feed links visible and attempting to load `/news/foo` or `/news/bar` results in a 404. just for kicks i tried `/news/atom` which gave me this: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 119, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 42, in call_object Module plone.syndication.outbound.browser.feed, line 28, in __call__ AttributeError: feed_name as i said, i'm intrigued by the possibility of using vice for quills (and also for two other plone 3.0 based projects that i'm working on) but i'm not sure it's ready yet. at the moment it doesn't look like it's going to make it into quills 1.6 because i only got two more days left and there are still 14 other bugs left :-( however, the most serious of those are concerned with trackbacks not working. how's that state on inbound syndication with vice? if using vice would solve the trackback problems that quills has atm it might be worth getting vice into quills, after all... any opinion or help would be greatly appreciated. tom -- Tom Lazar http://tomster.org
