with the rest of us ;-)

seriously. buildout works just fine on windows. that's one of its
strengths.

have you tried running bootstrap.py? what do you get? somebody
reported a problem on plone-users, but i couldn't figure out, what
the reason was. feedback is welcome!

the tar and svn commands are just particular means to unpack the
buildout-archive or to checkout the buildout.

once you've got the buildout sitting on your drive you just need to
run bootstrap.py

as stated in the previous mail, you need to copy the products inside
quills-products into the Products folder of your existing instance.
everything inside src goes into lib/python of your instance. look at
their respective READMEs on how to activate them for your setup.
(items inside lib/python are *not* automatically active as products
living inside the Products folder are. that's a design-feature, not a
bug)

i think, it's only the mix of products and packages that create this
hassle. in the future, everything will be just an egg and you can
install it with easy_install (regardless of which platform you're on)

absolutely not. you're just dealing with

a) a product that's released partly as Product and partly as packages
b) a first time release manager who doesn't know jack about windows

i'm learning from this as much as you probably are!

thanks for hanging in there and still being interested in Quills!

cheers,
